Pool covers are an added expense that you can't afford not to get. There are several types of pool covers, depending on what your goal is will determine which one you get. 
Most covers keep debris out, while others also help to keep children from falling in. The pool cover below on the right will support an adult, however it is not recommended that you walk on your cover, covers age and the materials weaken with time, it is important that you keep an eye on wear and tear and that you occasionally check to make sure the integrity of the material has not been compromised.  If your primary goal is the safety of your children make sure that the the pool cover you choose is similar to the one on the right below. Children are small and curious and they have crawled under the covers shown on the left hand side below.
